GUIDELINES ON GREENING PISAY (June 28, 2010, 7:30 – 10:00)

Assigned area: Beside the dorms' "mini forests", near perimeter of oval

The 4th, 3rd and 1st year students will not dig holes for planting. The soil has been cultivated for them. All they will do is put in the plants, and cover the roots with enough soil. Moisten the soil with water if it is too dry. Water sprinklers will be made available per batch. If classes can bring watering cans please tell them to do so.

Assembly is at the Flag Ceremony area. Students will bring only the needed materials for planting. Other things must be left at home/ dorm, or in their lockers. Students will wear decent work clothes—T-shirt, maong pants, boots for footwear (if available). Students should know the plants' common and scientific names. They will make markers with the plants' identities. The SA will prepare the laminated SECTION NAMES of the classes. These will be placed in their assigned areas. Each class must find a way to securely position their Section Name in their work area for easy identification and monitoring.

· OTHER THINGS TO BRING:

· trowel, rubber gloves (NOT the disposable type, please) for planting; bar of soap for cleaning themselves up, towel for wiping sweat, shirts to change into after the activity; drinks, food to share (optional)

Students may apply Off lotion before coming to school. Bring raincoat or umbrella, in case it rains. Bring "pamaypay" to cool themselves and drive mosquitoes away.
